High Points At 2022 HCD Conference

Image
I can’t deny that I was riding a high a year ago when we brought the 2021 Healthcare Design Conference + Expo to my hometown of Cleveland, our first in-person show since COVID-19. But like all the firsts we’ve experienced in our pandemic recovery, it wasn’t quite the same as before. Now, fast-forward to last week, and, oh my, how far we’ve come. At press time, we’re just returning from the 2022 HCD Conference in San Antonio. We saw attendance surge and, honestly, it felt pretty darn normal. Facility tours were back, sessions were packed, parties were hopping, and countless reunions took place. Pandemic restrictions prevented us from holding tours in 2021, so it was a special treat to see attendees lined up to board buses and head off to local San Antonio healthcare facilities. I enjoyed a visit to one myself, where I was reminded that you just can’t replicate seeing pro

PHOTO TOUR: Hilger Face Center

Image
The vision for the relocation and expansion of the Hilger Face Center – University of Minnesota Physicians in Edina, Minn., is rooted in the mission to serve patients in a new setting that will support the care team. The clinic includes facial plastic and reconstructive surgery services. In the clinic’s former location, no workspace—outside of exam rooms—existed for the care team. A separate workspace has been added that allows staff a private area for administrative tasks or to break away for a few minutes of down time. The office space, complete with a separate staff entrance, includes flexible workspace including a workroom, virtual visit space, shared office, and a dedicated nurse manager’s office. The previous space included two exam rooms, one functioning as a procedure room and the other shared with an esthetician. The new space includes three dedicated exam rooms featuring soft blue- and walnut-toned custom millwork, filtered natural light through gradient window film that
