The Penn Medicine / Virtua Health Proton Therapy Center Opens In New Jersey

The Penn Medicine / Virtua Health Proton Therapy Center has opened in Voorhees, N.J.

The $45 million facility is a partnership between healthcare system Virtua Health (Voorhees) and academic medical center Penn Medicine (Philadelphia).

The 8,600-square-foot facility offers evaluation, treatment, and clinical trial services.

The center is connected to the Penn Medicine / Virtua Health Radiation Oncology suite and is part of the comprehensive Penn Medicine / Virtua Health Cancer Program.

$564M Victorian Heart Hospital Opens In Australia

Monash Health has opened Victorian Heart Hospital on the Monash University Clayton campus in Clayton, Victoria, Australia. As Australia’s first dedicated heart hospital, the $564 million facility houses clinical cardiology, research, education, outpatient, imaging, pathology, and pharmacy services. The 196-bed hospital includes seven catheterization laboratories and one floor dedicated to heart research by Monash University and independent research group Monash Cardiovascular Research Centre (Clayton). A central outdoor courtyard, landscaped areas, and café spaces are also featured at the new hospital. Jessalyn Nelson, PE, Senior Associate, Walter P Moore (Houston) Armed with a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from Lafayette College and a Master of Science in Civil Engineering from Tufts University, Jessalyn Nelson relocated to Houston after graduation to begin her career at Walter P Moore , where she was introduced to healthcare design. One of Nelson’s first projects with the firm was the 19-story expansion to Texas Children’s Hospital Legacy Tower in Houston, where she served as a graduate engineer during design and construction. Her refined analysis work enabled the expansion to increase by a full floor relative to what had originally been accommodated in the structural design. Additional responsibilities included analysis and design of the lateral system and specialty detailing, as well as firm representation and observation throughout construction of the concrete frame.
