Health Systems To Add Ambulatory Surgery Centers

Bon Secours Mercy Health System (Cincinnati) is partnering with ambulatory surgery center operator Compass Surgical Partners Health (Raleigh, N.C.) to develop more than 30 ambulatory surgery centers across multiple states, according to the website bizjournals.com.

Compass will work with the 48-hospital health system to develop ambulatory surgery centers throughout its footprint, which includes Kentucky, Ohio, South Carolina, Virginia, Maryland, New York and Florida. In similar news, nonprofit OhioHealth (Columbus, Ohio) is working with healthcare services company Surgery Partners (Nashville, Tenn.) to grow its network of ambulatory surgery centers across Ohio, according to an OhioHealth press release.

The new partnership will use a phased expansion approach starting in the 50 counties OhioHealth serves,

Additionally, nonprofit Intermountain Health (Salt Lake City) and Surgery Partners entered a collaboration agreement for the management of existing Intermountain Health ambulatory surgical centers in Utah and Idaho. The organizations will also work together to develop ambulatory surgical centers in other select markets, according to an Intermountain Health press release.

Intermountain currently has five ambulatory surgery centers across Utah and plans to open more over the next year. The collaboration agreement will accelerate those efforts.
