Healthcare Design Announces 2023 HCD 10 Winners

The editors of Healthcare Design magazine selected the winners of the 2023 HCD 10 awards program.

The mission of the HCD 10 is to recognize and celebrate the broad spectrum of outstanding members of our industry and the influence they have on healthcare design.

Each year, the editorial team reviews dozens of submissions to the HCD 10 competition, which celebrates exceptional professionals across 10 categories. Specifically, the program recognizes accomplishments over the 12 months prior to the nomination period.

The 2023 HCD 10 are:

Architect—Haewon Kim LaBroad, principal, director of clinical planning, Hoefer Welker

Interior Designer—Megan McNally, associate director of interior design, Ryan A+E

Owner/Provider—Natalie Miovski Hagerty, senior director, facilities planning, design and integration, Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, Philadelphia

Clinician—Virginia Prendergast, director, advanced practice nursing – neuroscience, Barrow Neurological Institute, Dignity Health, Phoenix

Facility Manager—Martin Misicko, vice president, facilities, Carilion Clinic, Roanoke, Va.

Building Professional—Corey Gaarde, principal, project executive, IMEG, Naperville, Ill.

Educator—Zhipeng Lu, associate director, Center for Health Systems & Design, and assistant professor, department of architecture, Texas A&M, College Station, Texas

Researcher—Jeri Brittin, director of research, HDR, Boise, Idaho

Team MVP—Damian Huneycutt, healthcare client leader, principal, DLR Group, Charlotte, N.C.

Outstanding Organization—The MetroHealth System, Cleveland

HCD 10 coverage

The HCD 10 winners and their contributions to the industry will be featured in the September issue of Healthcare Design and online.

The 2023 HCD 10 also will be celebrated in person during an awards gala at the upcoming HCD Forum, Sept. 6-8 in Savannah, Ga., as well as during the magazine’s awards luncheon at the Healthcare Design Conference + Expo, Nov. 4-7, in New Orleans.
