Pipeline Health Plans Inpatient Behavioral Health Unit In Norwalk, Calif.

Pipeline Health (El Segundo, Calif.), an operator of safety-net hospitals across California, Texas, and Illinois, is building a new inpatient behavioral health unit at its Coast Plaza Hospital in Norwalk, Calif.

The unit will include 37 inpatient beds and a dining room.

The facility will offer mental illness and substance abuse treatment and serve patients from other Los Angeles-area hospitals operated by Pipeline Health.

$564M Victorian Heart Hospital Opens In Australia

Monash Health has opened Victorian Heart Hospital on the Monash University Clayton campus in Clayton, Victoria, Australia. As Australia’s first dedicated heart hospital, the $564 million facility houses clinical cardiology, research, education, outpatient, imaging, pathology, and pharmacy services. The 196-bed hospital includes seven catheterization laboratories and one floor dedicated to heart research by Monash University and independent research group Monash Cardiovascular Research Centre (Clayton). A central outdoor courtyard, landscaped areas, and café spaces are also featured at the new hospital. The project team comprises Conrad Gargett (designer; Brisbane, Queensland, Australia) and Wardle (designer; Collingwood, Victoria, Australia). Jessalyn Nelson, PE, Senior Associate, Walter P Moore (Houston) Armed with a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from Lafayette College and a Master of Science in Civil Engineering from Tufts University, Jessalyn Nelson relocated to Houston after graduation to begin her career at Walter P Moore , where she was introduced to healthcare design. One of Nelson’s first projects with the firm was the 19-story expansion to Texas Children’s Hospital Legacy Tower in Houston, where she served as a graduate engineer during design and construction. Her refined analysis work enabled the expansion to increase by a full floor relative to what had originally been accommodated in the structural design.
