Perkins&Will, Healthy Building Network Release Two Reports On Embodied Carbon, Material Health
Global architecture and design firm Perkins&Will (Chicago) and nonprofit research organization Healthy Building Network (Washington, D.C.) launched two reports for architects and designers on selecting sustainable, low-carbon gypsum drywall, flooring, and insulation.
The reports, “Embodied Carbon and Material Health in Gypsum Drywall and Flooring” and “Embodied Carbon and Material Health in Insulation,” discuss the environmental footprint associated with the production and transportation of drywall and flooring as well as the chemicals and greenhouse gas emissions associated with insulation and other building materials.
Ideas on how project teams can specify products that are best in class for embodied carbon and material health as well as sustainable design practices are shared.
Both reports are available for download here.
