University of Pennsylvania Health System To Acquire Doylestown Health

The University of Pennsylvania Health System (UPHS; Philadelphia), part of Penn Medicine (Philadelphia), is acquiring nonprofit Doylestown Health (Doylestown, Pa.).

The deal will expand UPHS’ network into Bucks County, Pa., and includes the flagship Doylestown Hospital, a 247-bed teaching facility in Doylestown.

The acquisition will build on UPHS’ and Doylestown Health’s existing relationship. For example, Doylestown Hospital is part of the Penn Cancer Network, a group of hospitals and physician practices that collaborates with Penn Medicine’s Abramson Cancer Center throughout the Philadelphia area.

Doylestown Hospital will become the seventh hospital under the UPHS umbrella.
