Northwell Hospital’s Peconic Bay Medical Center To Add $92M Project

Peconic Bay Medical Center in Riverhead, N.Y., a part of Northwell Health (New Hyde Park, N.Y.), revealed a $92 million expansion project that will add a new center for women and infants and expand the existing emergency department (ED). (For more on Northwell Health, go here .) The women and infants center will house private patient rooms and a Level II neonatal intensive care unit. Services will include breast health, urogynecology, and tele-neonatology. The hospital plans to add 6,600 square feet to the ED to increase bed capacity and make room for a dual bay trauma unit, cardiac response technology, and radiology capabilities. The ED will be renamed the Poole Family Trauma & Emergency Center in honor of a $5 million contribution made by local philanthropists Thomas and Mary Jane Poole. Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital Completes Expansion, Renovation In Florida

Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital in Hollywood, Fla., recently completed a 108,000-square-foot expansion and renovation. The project includes a four-floor addition atop an existing building and the replacement of exterior stucco on the original structure. The project team includes HKS Architects (architect; Coral Gables, Fla.), Robins & Morton (general contractor; Orlando, Fla.), C.B. Goldsmith & Associates (architectural consultant; Clearwater, Fla.), and KHS&S Contracting (applicator; Tampa, Fla). Connecticut Children’s Breaks Ground On Clinical Tower In Hartford, Conn.

Connecticut Children’s medical center in Hartford, Conn., broke ground on 190,000-square-foot clinical tower. (For more on Connecticut Children’s go here .) Expected to open in late 2025, the new tower will connect to the existing medical center and serve as a new front gateway for the children’s hospital. The facility will house 50 private neonatal intensive care units (ICUs), a fetal care center with holistic labor and delivery services, and an advanced gene therapy unit for bone marrow and liquid radiation treatments. The care spaces in the tower are designed to flex as care needs change into the future, including a 14-bed acuity unit. Each inpatient floor will also house an open-air terrace for fresh air and respite. San Antonio Regional Hospital Plans New MOB In California

San Antonio Regional Hospital (Upland, Calif.) is planning to turn a recently purchased 127,000-square-foot office building into a medical office building (MOB) in Rancho Cucamonga, Calif., according to the website bizjournals.com . Atrium Health Breaks Ground On 30-Bed Hospital In North Carolina

Atrium Health (Charlotte, N.C.) broke ground on Atrium Health Lake Norman, a new 30-bed hospital in Cornelius, N.C. (For more on Atrium Health, go here .) The 170,000-square-foot facility will house a laboratory, pharmacy, maternity suites, 4-bed intensive care unit, two operating rooms, cesarean-section operating room, and emergency department with eight treatment rooms. Rock Row Medical & Research Campus Hits Project Milestone In Maine

Developer Waterstone Properties Group (Needham, Mass.) announced the topping out of Rock Row’s Medical & Research Campus , a center for health, healing, and wellness, in Westbrook, Maine. The medical campus will include outdoor infusion bays and a healing garden. Tenants of the campus include oncology group New England Cancer Specialists (Kennebunk, Me.), Rayus Radiology (St. Cloud, Minn.), Saco Bay Physical Therapy (Portland, Me.), and The Dempsey Center (Lewiston, Me.), a no-cost cancer care services provider. Landry/French (Scarborough, Maine) is the construction manager on the project. The medical and research campus is slated to be completed in 2024. Rowland Transplant Clinic for UW Health at University Hospital in Madison, Wis., provides a new home for the organization’s renowned organ transplant program. The project aims to create a better, more streamlined experience for those involved in the process of organ transplantation and living donation. The new 10,000-square-foot clinic, located just inside the University Hospital clinic entrance, serves adult patients who are being evaluated for or who have received an organ transplant. It also serves those who give the gift of life through living organ donation.
