Steward Health Care To Close Hospital In Stoughton, Massachusetts

Physician-led healthcare network Steward Health Care (Dallas) is planning to close New England Sinai Acute Long-Term Care And Rehabilitation Hospital (NEHS) in Stoughton, Mass., according to the website boston25news.com . Existing patients are expected to be moved to other facilities by early April 2024. Steward Health Care said that chronic low reimbursement rates for services provided to Medicare and Medicaid patients, as well as the loss of $22 million from NESH operations, have prevented the organization from keeping the facility open, according to press release from Steward Health. HCA Florida Blake Hospital Adding Freestanding ED In Palmetto, Florida

HCA Florida Blake Hospital (Bradenton, Fla.) broke ground on HCA Florida Palmetto Emergency, a freestanding emergency department (ED) in Palmetto, Fla., according to the website heraldtribune.com . The $15 million project will include 11 exam rooms. In addition to full-service emergency care, the 10,800-square-foot ED will house laboratory, X-ray, CT scanning, ultrasound, and pharmacy services. Architecture and engineering firm BSA LifeStructures (BSA) opened a studio in Tampa, Fla., offering both architecture and engineering services. The new location follows BSA’s acquisition earlier this year of Tampa-based Carastro & Associates, a mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire protection, and technology engineering firm. Permian Basin Behavioral Health Center Begins Construction In Midland, Texas

Operators Midland County Hospital District (Midland, Texas) and Ector County Hospital District (Odessa, Texas), along with the Texas Facilities Commission (Austin, Texas), started construction on the Permian Basin Behavioral Health Center in Midland, Texas. Situated on 54 acres, the 200-bed center will offer short- and long-term treatment for psychiatric patients of all ages. The $225 million facility will house a crisis stabilization unit, outpatient center, and community education center. ZGF Signs HHS Health Sector Climate Pledge

Architecture firm ZGF (Portland, Ore.) has joined the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) Health Sector Climate Pledge . The voluntary program focuses on climate resilience and emissions reduction, including cutting greenhouse gas emissions by 50 percent by 2030 and achieving net zero emissions by 2050. The firm is the first architecture firm to sign the pledge, according to a ZGF press release . In 2019, ZGF committed to track and reduce by 55 percent the firm’s Scope 1, 2, and 3 emissions, using life cycle assessment methodology to account for Scope 3 emissions whenever possible. UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital is planning a $1.5 billion expansion on its campus in Oakland, Calif., according to the website bizjournals.com .
